DSA support is there to help you study.
Disabled Students’ Allowance, often called DSA, can help students access support that makes studying more manageable.
If you are neurodivergent, have a mental health condition, a disability, a long-term health condition or a specific learning difficulty, DSA may be able to fund support such as specialist mentoring or study skills sessions.
At Mango Minds, we provide warm, practical study skills and specialist mentoring support for students who receive DSA funding.
What is Disabled Students’ Allowance?
Disabled Students’ Allowance is support that helps eligible students manage the impact of a disability, mental health condition, neurodivergence, long-term health condition or specific learning difficulty while studying.
DSA is there to help remove barriers to study. Depending on your needs and recommendations, it may fund specialist mentoring, study skills support, equipment or other support.
Mango Minds does not assess your eligibility for DSA. If you think you may need DSA support, please contact your university wellbeing, disability or student support service. They can talk you through the process and explain how to apply.
What support do we provide through DSA?
Mango Minds provides human, practical and personalised support for students who receive DSA-funded non-medical help. We currently provide:
Specialist Study Skills Support
Practical support with planning, organisation, reading, writing, deadlines, revision, academic confidence and developing study strategies that work for you.
Specialist Mentoring
Support with managing university life, routines, motivation, confidence, emotional barriers to study, overwhelm, communication and developing independence.
Autism-Specific Study Skills Support
Study skills support designed for autistic students who receive DSA funding for this type of support.
Autism-Specific Specialist Mentoring
Mentoring support for autistic students, including support around routines, transitions, communication, self-advocacy, emotional regulation and managing university life.
What we do not provide
To make sure students and professionals are clear, Mango Minds does not provide:
We provide specialist mentoring and study skills support only. If you need a DSA needs assessment, diagnostic assessment or assistive technology support, your university disability or wellbeing service should be able to guide you to the right place.
Have you been given Mango Minds as your provider?
If Mango Minds has been named as your provider for DSA-funded support, please get in touch so we can help you take the next step. You can contact us by email or through our contact form.
When you contact us, please include your name, university, the type of support you have been awarded and any relevant information from your DSA recommendations.
Not sure if DSA is right for you?
That is completely okay. Many students do not know what DSA is, whether they are eligible or what type of support they might need.
Your first step should usually be to contact your university wellbeing, disability or student support team. They can explain the DSA process and help you understand what support may be available.
