AI / Automation Engineer
We are recruiting an AI / Automation Engineer to join us, starting October 2026. Running a support service generates a lot of repetitive work: scheduling, reporting, chasing paperwork, moving information between systems. Your job would be to find that work and take it away, using automation and AI tools where they genuinely help — and to say so plainly where they don’t.
- Map the manual processes across the business and work out which are worth automating
- Build the automations and integrations that connect our tools to each other
- Apply AI where it does real work — drafting, summarising, triage — and measure whether it actually helped
- Keep a human in the loop on anything that touches a student
- Document what you build so it does not depend on you being available
- Experience building automations and integrations — APIs, workflow tools, scripting
- Practical judgement about where AI helps and where it just adds risk
- Able to sit with a colleague, understand their day, and spot what can be removed
- Careful with sensitive data — you would be working near student records
- Comfortable owning your own work without close supervision
This role is delivered remotely, so you can support students anywhere in the UK from wherever you are. We also have students who benefit from meeting in person, and we’re particularly keen to hear from practitioners in or near Edinburgh, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and London.
